Maybe New York Knicks owner James Dolan should guarantee that his team will win Thursday's game, too.

The Knicks beat the Hawks, 95-91, in Atlanta on Wednesday, three days after Dolan issued a guarantee that they'd win the game.

New York was led by Carmelo Anthony (25 points) and Andrea Bargnani (18 points), and dominated Atlanta in the fourth quarter.

The victory couldn't have come at a better time for the Knicks (3-4).

Between Dolan's guarantee, trade rumors involving Iman Shumpert and the Knicks coming off of a 31-point loss to San Antonio, there was plenty of negativity surrounding the team.

So for one night, Knicks coach Mike Woodson and his players can breathe easily.

Finishing strong: The Knicks trailed by three heading into the fourth quarter thanks to an awful third in which they scored just 10 points and allowed the Hawks to go on a 17-3 run.

But Anthony helped spur New York in the final quarter.

The Knicks went on a 20-4 run over 7:33 in the final quarter. Anthony, who went 7-for-21 in the first three quarters, had six key points in the run. Bargnani added eight, including two 3-pointers that were assisted by Raymond Felton, to help put the game away.

Shumpert responds: Earlier in the day, ESPN.com and other media outlets reported that the Knicks had talked to Denver about trading Shumpert to the Nuggets for Kenneth Faried.

Shumpert, who has been involved in trade rumors in the past, didn't let the rumors affect him on Wednesday night. He had a poor shooting night (2-for-8) but had a career-high nine assists and four steals. The Knicks outscored the Hawks by 18 in Shumpert's 35 minutes on the floor. J.R. Smith, starting his first game in two seasons, had 12 points on 4-for-10 shooting. Rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. had 14 points off the bench.

What's next: The Knicks take on Jeremy Lin, Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets on Thursday at Madison Square Garden.
