Here are a few observations from the first half of New York Knicks-Houston Rockets:

Shump! Iman Shumpert continues to show signs that he's breaking out of a season-long shooting slump.

The third-year guard was 4-for-6 from the field and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc in the first half against Houston. He has 10 points and four assists thus far to help the Knicks keep pace.

Shumpert entered the calendar year shooting 36 percent from the floor and 30 percent from beyond the arc, but broke out Thursday against San Antonio for 27 points on 10-for-13 shooting.

Carmelo Anthony also has 10 points for the Knicks, who are looking to win two straight.

Murry making his case: Rookie point guard Toure' Murry continues to make a case for more playing time.

The Knicks outscored the Rockets by seven points in Murry's 10 first-half minutes. He has four assists and brings a different dynamic on defense than point guard Beno Udrih.

Udrih has two points, two assists and two steals. The Knicks are being outscored by eight points when he's on the floor.

Tyson's battle: Tyson Chandler was whistled for a technical after a brief skirmish with Dwight Howard. The Knicks big man already has nine points and seven rebounds. Howard has seven points and five rebounds in 21 minutes.
