NEW YORK –- Tyson Chandler said he has bronchitis, which will keep him out of his fourth straight game Monday against Phoenix.

“Not necessarily worried,” the New York Knicks center said of the bronchitis. “I was feeling pretty down coming back from Dallas. I started feeling it in the San Antonio game. I thought I could play through it and play a couple of games, but by the time Dallas [came around] I kind of was going downhill.”

Chandler said he did some light work on Monday but “literally came from my bed” to the arena. He is hopeful that he can play some limited minutes at Charlotte on Tuesday night, get in a workout on Wednesday before playing some more at Indiana on Thursday.

“Yesterday was the first time I got out of the house,” Chandler said. “We’ll see how it goes.”

“I’m sure I’m not in any kind of condition,” he added about potentially playing limited minutes in Charlotte. “I was in decent condition before. It’s more so just trying to get over all the junk dealing with my chest now.”

Chandler dismissed any notion of him being susceptible to illnesses since he has missed games due to illness as a Knick in the past.

“I don’t think so,” Chandler said. “I think I only got sick twice before I came to New York in my career. I just got sick the last couple of years. I don’t think it’s anything to be worried about.”
