• They call it, simply, “The Dunk.” John Starks drives the wing and comes baseline in the 1993 Eastern Conference finals and finishes with a left-handed dunk over three Bulls –- including Michael Jordan -- to send the Garden into a frenzy.

• Mark Messier caps a memorable playoff run in 1994 with a goal in the Rangers’ Game 7 win over the Canucks to clinch the team's first Stanley Cup in 54 years.

• The Rangers’ signature moment in 1994 belongs to Stephane Matteau. Matteau scores with 4:24 left in double overtime of the Rangers’ Eastern Conference clash with the Devils to cement Messier’s guarantee into Madison Square Garden lore.

• Frazier vs. Ali: The Fight of the Century takes place, naturally, at the World’s Most Famous Arena. Joe Frazier floors Muhammad Ali with a sharp hook to send Ali to his first loss in 32 fights.

• Melo has a night for the ages, setting a Madison Square Garden and Knicks scoring record with 62 points against the Bobcats. Anthony hit 23 of 35 from the floor and pulled down 13 rebounds to help New York snap a five-game losing streak.

• In his fifth game back after a foray into minor league baseball, Jordan pours in an eye-popping 55 points on the Knicks on March 29, 1995.

• In what many believe is the most memorable moment in Madison Square Garden history, Willis Reed hobbles through the players tunnel and onto the court to play in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals despite a severe ankle injury. Reed scored the Knicks’ first two field goals in a win over the Lakers.

• Does it get any better than six overtimes? UConn and Syracuse -- two bastions of the old Big East -- battle for six overtimes, aka 30 extra minutes, in the 2009 Big East tournament quarterfinals. The game ends a few minutes before 1:30 a.m.

Reggie Miller scores eight points in 8.9 seconds to lift the Pacers to an improbable win over the Knicks in Game 1 of their 1995 playoff series.
