Injuries have derailed the New York Knicks' drive to the playoffs so far. However, head coach Mike Woodson believes there is still enough time to regroup and make a push right past the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference postseason picture.

Getting Iman Shumpert back would be a big step in the right direction.

Shumpert has missed two games after injuring his right shoulder in a collision with Jared Sullinger during Tuesday’s win over Boston. Shumpert took part in the morning shootaround and declared himself a game-time decision.

“Tonight before the game, we’ll try some more stuff to make sure it’s all right, if everything is OK, if it feels good,” he said. “I got to be able to get through screens. That’s how I hurt it so that’s what I want to be comfortable with.”

Woodson said that if Shumpert plays, J.R. Smith will go back to coming off the bench.

IT AIN'T OVER: After losing 28 games already, don’t count the Knicks out just yet.

“We haven’t been able to put it together, all together. Then Tyson [Chandler] got hurt. So, this has been a lot of ups and down with our roster and team this season,” Woodson said. “Again, we’re still in the hunt. Still got a shot. So, that’s how I look at it.”

Chandler missed 20 games with a fractured right fibula earlier this season. He missed four games with bronchitis in early January. Woodson plans to bring Amar'e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin back slowly from their recent ankle injuries.

“We’re getting guys back again,” Woodson said. “We just got to hope to keep them, and try to develop some kind of rhythm and chemistry with the guys once they come back.”
