NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month on Wednesday.

Anthony dominated the East in a number of statistical categories. Anthony led the Eastern Conference in scoring (28.7 ppg), ranked ninth in rebounding (9.0 rpg), sixth in 3-point percentage (.494) and third in minutes (37.7 mpg), leading the Knicks to a 10-6 record.

The highlight of Anthony’s month came on Jan. 24, when he scored a franchise and MSG record 62 points against Charlotte.

Anthony was solid throughout the month. He had five double-doubles and scored at least 25 points in 12 of 16 games.

Woodson and Stoudemire in “good place”: Amar'e Stoudemire hinted on Tuesday that he was frustrated with his playing time of late. He’d played a combined 21 minutes in two games since returning from an ankle sprain.

The Knicks were cautious early in the season with Stoudemire’s minutes due to his history of knee injuries.

Before Monday’s game, coach Mike Woodson said he and Stoudemire were “in a good place.”

“We’ll get him more minutes and see where he is. Hopefully the minutes will be beneficial and he’ll feel good about himself the next day and be ready to go the next game,” Woodson said. “That’s kind of where we’ve been pretty much all season with Amar’e. It’s been up and down in that area based on some of the injuries that he has had. We’ll see where he is tonight.”

Woodson added that he understood and respected where Stoudemire was coming from.

“I would be disappointed if I had players that didn’t want to play. You should always want to play,” the coach said. “But I got to still be careful, too. I mean, you play him 40 tonight, you might not have him tomorrow. That’s just the kind of situation, so we’ll get him moved up tonight and see where he is. Hopefully his minutes will be very positive for us to help us win. That’s what it’s all about for anybody that plays.”
