Here are a few things to keep an eye on during Wednesday night's New York Knicks-New Orleans Pelicans game:

Deadline Day: The NBA trade deadline really couldn't come at a better time for the Knicks. All of the rumors provide a brief distraction from the fact that the team stinks right now.

The Knicks have lost six of seven and three straight. They fell a season-high 13 games under .500 after Tuesday's loss to Memphis.

And things get only a little easier on Wednesday when they take on the Pelicans.

New Orleans (23-29) is under .500 but has played well over the past four weeks, winning eight of 13 while holding opponents to 95.9 points per game, according to STATS LLC.

Want to know how different life is in the Western Conference than it is in the Eastern Conference?

The Pelicans are 3½ games better than the Knicks but sit 7½ games out of the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Knicks (20-33) are 3½ games back of the Bobcats for the race for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Melo a bit off: Carmelo Anthony missed his first six shots last night and finished the game 8-for-22 and 1-for-5 from beyond the arc. The Knicks were brutal from beyond the arc on Tuesday, missing 21 of 27 shots.

Anthony has struggled from the field during the Knicks' current three-game losing streak, shooting 25-for-69 (36.2 percent) from the floor. He is averaging 28.3 points while shooting 53.0 percent over his past three games in New Orleans, per STATS LLC.

Felton and Shumpert sitting? Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert are being discussed as a potential trade package in return for Clippers point guard Darren Collison and shooting guard Reggie Bullock.

It will be interesting to see how Mike Woodson handles playing time for both players Wednesday night. Felton and Shumpert both sat out the entire fourth quarter of the Knicks' loss to the Grizzlies.
