NEW YORK -- New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton suffered a contused rib and a back bruise on Wednesday against Brooklyn but vowed to be ready to play Friday.

“Very sore. But I'll be alright. I'll get passed it. I'll be alright,” Felton said.

The veteran point guard came down hard on his right side in the third quarter after getting tangled up with Deron Williams while going for a rebound.

He left the court and headed to the locker room but returned midway through the fourth quarter.

Felton was moving gingerly in the locker room after the game but said that he'd suit up against John Wall and the Wizards Friday night.

“I wanna play, I wanna be out there,” Felton said.

Felton had five points and three assists in 20 minutes on Wednesday.

The 29-point win over the Nets gave the Knicks sole possession of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. New York is percentage points ahead of Atlanta. The Knicks need to gain one more game on the Hawks to secure a playoff spot because Atlanta holds the tie-breaker.

Hardaway steps up: Mike Woodson didn’t expect Tim Hardaway Jr. to suit up on Wednesday, but the rookie surprised his coach and teammates by playing and performing well in the Knicks’ big win on Wednesday.

Hardaway was questionable prior to the game due to a sprained ankle but played and poured in 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting in 24 minutes.

“I was surprised that he played but the fact that he stepped up and played and played well really helped us out a lot,” Woodson said.

Streaking: New York is 12-3 in its last 15 games. Over that stretch, the Knicks are averaging 103.6 points per game on 48 percent shooting. They are allowing 96.7 points on 44.4 percent shooting. ... Carmelo Anthony (23 points, 10 rebounds) recorded his 22nd double-double of the season. He has led the Knicks in rebounding 37 times this season.
