Kevin Garnett's jumper, the one that could have sent the game into overtime, just bounced off the rim and the New York crowd got the victory it wanted for Christmas.

Then Knicks reserve Bill Walker walked up to Garnett and added a few words that probably weren't "Merry Christmas."

Garnett reacted by grabbing Walker near the neck and the two were quickly separated. Garnett did not address the scuffle with reporters after the game. The incident happened just a few feet from the New York bench.

Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said he wasn't sure what happened. By then he was exchanging a postgame handshake with Boston coach Doc Rivers.

"You're not going to find me too close to that," D'Antoni said. "I'm way too old for that. I can imagine what happened.

"It's going to be a rivalry now because I think we're trying to get up to the same level they are. It's going to be knock-down, drag-out, and there's going to be some tempers. Hopefully, they will control themselves and it won't be anything bad. We're not backing down. They're not backing down. It's going to be tough."
