TC on Linsanity
By Adam Rubin
Terry Collins flew via helicopter to Miami on Thursday night to watch the Knicks take on the Heat. Jeff Wilpon, Sandy Alderson, J.P. Ricciardi and John Ricco also planned to attend.
Terry Collins and Jeff Wilpon board a chartered helicopter bound for the Knicks-Heats game, a 120-mile trip from Port St. Lucie. Sandy Alderson, J.P. Ricciardi and John Ricco also were on the excursion.
“I’m kind of caught up in it. I want to see this guy play,” Collins said, referring to Jeremy Lin. “I’ve seen three of the games on TV. I’m as enamored as anybody because I think it’s one of the great, great stories. To finally get your opportunity, and I’ve seen all the interviews he’s had, he’s the perfect guy that any coach can now talk, ‘Hey, look, here’s a guy who was days from being released, days from quitting, emotionally strung out, finally got his chance and absolutely said, ‘I’m not coming out. This is my chance. I’m making the most of it.’’ It’s what we tell every player at every level no matter how good they are, how good they think they are. He’s a story. And I like to see things live. I like to watch him when he doesn’t have the ball. I like to watch him when he’s on the bench and see how he does.”
