Amar'e to appear on 'The Mindy Project'
By Jared Zwerling
Baron Davis, Amar'e Stoudemire and Mindy Kaling.
Amar'e Stoudemire makes his fall TV debut on Tuesday night -- but not on the hardwood.
Along with Baron Davis and the Pacers' Danny Granger, Stoudemire is making a cameo appearance as himself on the fourth episode of FOX's new comedy series, "The Mindy Project," at 9:30 p.m. ET.
In the episode, Mindy Kaling's gynecologist character goes on an outing with her co-workers to a nightclub, where she winds up hanging out in the VIP section with the three NBA players.
While Stoudemire was in Houston training with Hakeem Olajuwon in mid-August, he got the call to fly out to Los Angeles to film the scene with Davis and Granger. The opportunity to guest star came about after FOX reached out to his agent, Happy Walters, who is based in L.A.
For Stoudemire and Davis, this isn't their first on-screen cameo. Stoudemire acted as a party dancer in the 2011 film "New Year's Eve," and this year Davis played a high school gym teacher in Adam Sandler's movie "That's My Boy."
