Patrick's back. Sort of.

The Knicks announced Wednesday that Patrick Ewing will provide analysis for MSG postgame shows on March 20 (vs. Orlando) and March 31 (vs. Boston).

He's looking forward to the gig.

"It's always good to be back at The Garden," Ewing said in a statement released by the Knicks. "The Garden is home, New York is home, and the fans always appreciated what I brought to the table when I played. I'm really looking forward to working with MSG, it will be a great learning experience for me, and I'm excited to be on the other side of the mic."

Ewing, an 11-time All-Star with the Knicks, worked as an NBA assistant coach for eight seasons after his playing career. He is not coaching this year.

After 15 seasons with the Knicks, Ewing played one year in Seattle and one in Orlando before retiring. A vocal segment of Knicks fans has pined for Ewing to return to the team since his playing days ended.

Earlier this year, the Knicks asked Ewing to coach the team's D-League affiliate. He turned down the offer.

Ewing has been to several Knicks games this season. During a February game, Ewing sat next to Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan, which led some to speculate that the Hall of Famer was on the verge of coming back to work for the Knicks.

Fans greet Ewing with hearty ovations each time he's at a home game.

The Knicks retired Ewing's No. 33 jersey in 2003. Ewing was elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
