Melo, Smith struggling: The Knicks top two scoring threats aren't shooting the ball very well. Carmelo Anthony is 4-for-10 but has gotten to the line on a consistent basis. He's 6-for-7 from the free thrown line and has a game-high 14 points. Smith hasn't gotten to the line. He is 3-for-12 with a turnover. He has seven points. Anthony and Smith have combined to take half of the Knicks' 44 shots.
Stoudemire struggles continue:Amar'e Stoudemire talked before the game about how difficult it is to play on his minutes limit. The Knicks have limited Stoudemire to 10 minutes per game. Saturday's first half was another example of Stoudemire having a tough time with the minutes limit. He was a -9 in his first 2:30 on the floor. In five minutes, he went 0 for 1 with two rebounds and two fouls.
Big hole: The Knicks trailed by as many as 12 in the first half. New York has trailed by double digits in the first half in four of its last five games.
