New York hasn't played this trio up front together since Nov. 5, the night Chandler went down with a broken right fibula. Chandler returned from his injury Wednesday against Milwaukee. Woodson brought Bargnani off the bench in that game because he needed an extra big man in the second unit.
"We’ll go big and we’ll have Amar’e [Stoudemire] coming off the bench. It helps us," Woodson said.
The Knicks went 1-3 when starting Chandler, Anthony and Bargnani on the front line together. Of course, they went 7-14 in other alignments. So they haven't been very good no matter who starts.
But Saturday's starting lineup decreases the amount of time Anthony plays at power forward, which is where he was so effective last season.
In 54 minutes on the floor together, the Bargnani-Anthony-Chandler trio is averaging 98.5 points per 100 possessions but allowing 121.5 points per 100 possessions. That's not good.
Tyson feeling good: Tyson Chandler went through a full practice on Friday, two days after playing 37 minutes in his first game back in six weeks.
Woodson said Chandler was fine after logging those minutes. ... Raymond Felton hopes to return on Monday from his hamstring injury. Woodson, though, is taking a wait-and-see approach. Felton, who has been out since Dec. 11, still hasn't sprinted or scrimmaged with his teammates. ... Carmelo Anthony said it was "sad" to see his buddy Kobe Bryant out for approximately six weeks with a fracture in his left knee. "It was a freak accident, just a sad situation to see him come back from one injury and have to deal with another," he said.
