K-Mart (ankle) ruled out
By Ian Begley
Veteran forward Kenyon Martin was scratched from the lineup shortly before tipoff on Friday due to a sore left ankle, the team announced.
Martin has been held out of three games this season due to left ankle soreness.
The Knicks took a cautious approach with Martin in the preseason due to lingering soreness in his left ankle. He originally hurt his ankle last April and was slowed by the injury in the postseason.
Earlier this season, Martin was playing on a minutes limit and was prohibited from suiting up in both games of a back-to-back. The Knicks then lifted those restrictions and allowed Martin to decide if he could play in back-to-backs. So, presumably, it was Martin's decision to sit out of Friday's game, which was the second of a back-to-back.
Martin is averaging 3.4 points and four rebounds in 18 minutes per game. Recently signed Jeremy Tyler could see time with Martin out.
