J.R. Smith unties Shawn Marion's shoe

By Ian Begley

Will a moment of hijinks from J.R. Smith turn into another headache for the New York Knicks?

Smith was caught by television cameras untying the shoelaces of Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion's sneaker Sunday while the two were lined up on the side of the lane for free throws.

The prank could be viewed two ways by the NBA. The league may look it as a harmless attempt at humor and brush it off. Or, the league may interpret the action as an attempt by Smith to put Marion in a dangerous situation.

Marion, of course, could have injured his ankle afterward -- or worse.

Stay tuned. The NBA could take punitive action against Smith.

Question: What do you think of Smith's act? Was it a harmless attempt at humor? Or should he be punished for putting Marion in a dangerous situation?
