J.R. says he'll play with mask in Memphis

By Ohm Youngmisuk

The Knicks returned to work after the All-Star break in Memphis, where they will play the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

While J.R. Smith told reporters no adjustments were made to the mask he didn’t want to play with last week, the Knicks shooter plans on playing against the Grizzlies.

Smith fractured a bone in his left cheek and sat out last Wednesday’s loss to Sacramento because he didn’t feel comfortable with the mask.

“I’m going to play regardless if adjustments were made or not," Smith told reporters, according to the New York Post. “I can’t just keep missing games. I shot around with it. It was all right. It feels the same. I’ll just practice with it and go through with it."

Guard Iman Shumpert is listed as questionable with a left hip flexor strain and Kenyon Martin (ankle) remained in New York, according to reports.
