Knicks' Dolan supports Silver decision

By Ian Begley

New York Knicks owner James Dolan strongly supports Adam Silver's decision to ban Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life.

"I applaud Adam for acting quickly and decisively in appropriately addressing these disgusting and offensive comments," Dolan said in a statement released shortly after Silver's press conference. "This kind of behavior has no place in basketball, or anywhere else, and we as a league must stand together in condemning this ignorance.”

Dolan also said that he spoke to Silver recently. It's fair to assume that, given his statement, Dolan will vote to force Sterling to sell the Clippers.

Silver said he would do everything in his power to ensure that the NBA's Board of Governors force Sterling to sell. Sterling said that he'd need the support of 3/4 of the owners -- obtained via a vote of the NBA's Board of Governors -- to force Sterling to sell the team.

Dozens of owners have issued public statements condemning Sterling's racist comments that the league says he made in a recorded conversation.

Silver is confident that he'll have the support of ownership in his goal of forcing Sterling to sell his stake in the Clippers.

"I fully expect to get the support I need from the other NBA owners to remove him," the commissioner said.
