Amare Stoudemire, the sportswriter

By Jared Zwerling

Before arriving in the Big Apple, you could confidently address Amare Stoudemire as "A basketball player who also does business." But now, that's changing to a "A businessman who also plays basketball."

Perhaps Stoudemire is looking to take advantage of all that rest time for his still sore back. This summer, he's had his hand in music, television, film and fashion. Now, he's involved in another entertainment venture: online sports.

Today, Big Lead Sports (BLS), a popular independent online sports property, announced that it has entered a relationship with Stoudemire, in which he'll become a shareholder, adviser and regular contributor. Yes, he'll even provide features for BLS' websites, including Hoopsworld.com and Hoopshype.com, on pro sports and lifestyle endeavors. Stoudemire will also work with BLS to develop an online fantasy basketball platform, as well as an educational curriculum for kids based on math and fantasy basketball.

"I’m very pleased to be working with Big Lead Sports on this unique partnership," Stoudemire said. "I see a lot of opportunity in fantasy sports and the digital media services Fantasy Sports Ventures provides. I am looking forward to adding value to all of the platforms, especially the free educational initiatives that are being developed for kids. Although I am a novice in fantasy sports and I may not be named commissioner of my fantasy league this season, I do see the huge growth potential of fantasy basketball."
