Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez is making a case for National League Rookie of the Year. And Ike Davis is among those heaping praise on his Florida counterpart.

Sanchez's three-run homer in the eighth off Elmer Dessens was the deciding blow in the Marlins' 5-2 win against the Mets on Tuesday.

Sanchez leads NL rookies with 81 RBIs. The rest of the leaders:

Jason Heyward, Atlanta, 71
Davis, Mets, 69
Ian Desmond, Washington, 61
Buster Posey, San Francisco, 61
Neil Walker, Pittsburgh, 58
Tyler Colvin, Chicago, 56
Mike Stanton, Florida, 50

"He looks like he's got a good plan at the plate," Davis said about Sanchez. "He stays in there really well, and he's a tough out."
