Ruben Tejada, who turns 21 on Wednesday, will remain in his native Panama and work out this offseason rather than play winter ball. The organization had discussed with Tejada playing in Venezuela during the offseason.

"He is going to spend the winter working out with a trainer in Panama," agent Chris Leible said. "We all decided it was more important for his development for him to work hard to get bigger and stronger so he is better prepared for the rigors of MLB."
