Ousted Milwaukee Brewers manager Ken Macha could be a member of the Mets' coaching staff, perhaps as bench coach, if Terry Collins is in fact named manager, Foxsports.com reported. They were minor league teammates with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Macha has the Oakland Athletics pedigree as well. Still, Bob Melvin would seem a strong candidate for bench coach if he is runner-up for the manager's job.

Meanwhile, the site also reported that the Chicago White Sox or Texas Rangers could be landing spots for Carlos Beltran if the Mets would heavily subsidize the $18.5 million owed. Of course, if the Mets are going to heavily subsidize Beltran's contract, they might as well just hold onto him and see if they can get maximum production in a walk year.
