New York Mets
Hisanori Takahashi already has left the Mets, and Pedro Feliciano is now a free agent, potentially leaving the Mets barren in terms of left-handed relief help.
Feliciano, who has set franchise records for relief appearances each of the past three seasons, with 86, 88 and then 92, is drawing interest from both the Phillies and Yankees, according to sources.
Still, it's not believed Feliciano is close to signing elsewhere. Dialogue with the Mets has been minimal so far because of the involvement with the managerial search and other turnover-related business.
Agent Melvin Roman, who is now being assisted by ex-Mets infielder Ramon Martinez, said he was unable to comment on the status of the 34-year-old Feliciano's free agency. Feliciano made $2.9 million this past season.
"At this point we're just going to have no comment," Roman said. "We've made a decision we're not going to say anything until anything happens."
