Could the Red Sox acquire Carlos Beltran from the Mets? After all, he has gimpy knees and is owed $18.5 million.

Apparently, Boston is at least talking internally about it.

A person with knowledge of the Red Sox's plan tells ESPNNewYork.com the club has "to explore all options and he could theoretically be an option. No potential deal at all -- just looking for outfield help and discussing all kinds of options."
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
