Report: Viola interviews with Mets

Frank Viola has interviewed for the pitching coach position with the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Boston Globe reported.

Viola, 50, went to East Meadow High School on Long Island and played for St. John's. He pitched for the Mets from 1989-91.

After his playing career, Viola spent 10 years coaching at the high school level in Florida. He lives in Orlando.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
