Right-hander Dave Bush could be the answer to the Mets' starting rotation void, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports.
Add Dave Bush to the list of free-agent starters on the Mets' radar. J.P. Ricciardi was with the Blue Jays when team drafted Bush in the second round in 2002. Bush's velocity dipped about 2 mph last year, but he was second on the Brewers' staff to Randy Wolf with 18 quality starts.
Sandy Alderson told ESPNNewYork.com on Monday that his priority for the remainder of the offseason was to add another starting pitcher, hopefully at no more than the deal ex-Brewer Chris Capuano received ($1.5 million base, with the chance to earn roughly an additional $3 million with performance-based incentives).
Alderson still has five weeks before pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 15. Position players report Feb. 19, with the first full-squad workout on Feb. 21.
