BUFFALO 4, PAWTUCKET 2: For the second time in 10 days, Bisons knuckleballer R.A. Dickey dominated the Red Sox. Dickey allowed two runs in eight innings of work. He struck out five and posted four 1-2-3 innings as part of his 110-pitch effort. At one point, Dickey retired seven batters in a row, giving the Bisons’ offense a chance to rebound from an early deficit. Buffalo had trailed 2-1, with its lone run coming on a bases-loaded double play off the bat of Josh Thole in the second. With Mike Hessman aboard, Mike Cervenak came through with two out in the sixth when he drove a 2-0 pitch from Randor Bierd to deep left-center for his second homer this season. The Bisons added insurance in the ninth thanks to red-hot Ruben Tejada. The shortstop had two more hits, including a double that scored Andy Green from first base. Tejada has now hit in five straight games, with three multi-hit efforts. John Lujan made his Triple-A debut in the ninth and struck out two batters for his first Bisons save. Chris Carter went 2-for-3 with a walk, while Green was 1-for-3 with two runs scored. He has hit in all three games since been activated from the disabled list.

NEW HAMPSHIRE 5, BINGHAMTON 1: Right-hander Brad Holt made his much-anticipated 2010 debut and tossed two innings, but the B-Mets fell. Holt allowed a run on three hits and struck out two, but was tagged with the loss. D.J. Wabick provided the only offensive highlight by extending his modest hitting streak to five games with an RBI double in the ninth inning. It was the only extra-base hit of the contest. Binghamton (9-8) was in a hole early on. Facing Holt, Darin Mastroianni singled. A wild pitch moved him to second. Callix Crabbe followed with a single to put runners at the corners. With one out, Eric Thames hit a sac fly to left, putting the Fisher Cats ahead, 1-0. That one run looked like it would be enough for Fisher Cats ace Kyle Drabek. Drabek dazzled with 5 2/3 innings of scoreless work and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning. He struck out seven and allowed two hits to pick up his third win. In the sixth, New Hampshire (10-6) posted a three-run inning against reliever Dylan Owen. The 23-year-old right-hander loaded the bases on a pair walks and a single. Thames stepped into the box next and lined an RBI single. Adam Calderone brought in another run on a fielder’s choice. The run-scoring continued when shortstop Luis Hernandez committed a throwing error trying to double up a runner at first on an Adam Loewen lineout. The eighth inning saw the Fisher Cats string together three straight singles off Clint Everts to plate their fifth run. The B-Mets finally broke through against New Hampshire’s third pitcher of the afternoon, Vince Bongiovanni. The right-hander walked Zach Lutz to open the inning. Wabick then roped a double, scoring Lutz from first. Bongiovanni proceeded to walk the next hitter, Hernandez, but regained his form to retire the next three in order to close out the Fisher Cats’ win.

BRADENTON 6, ST. LUCIE 5: The Mets jumped ahead early plating four runs in the second inning. Stefan Welch had an RBI double and Matt Bouchard drove in a pair with a double of his own. The Marauders scored four runs the following inning, with only one hit. Three errors, two wild pitches and a passed ball did the Mets in. Starter Eric Beaulac lasted only 2 2/3 innings, but didn’t allow an earned run. St. Lucie retook the lead on an RBI single by Bouchard. Bradenton rallied right back scoring two runs in the top of the fourth. The Mets had opportunities to even the score but could not get the timely hit. St. Lucie banged out 13 hits. Emmanuel Garcia, Sean Ratliff, Eric Campbell and Welch had two hits apiece. Bouchard led the Mets with three hits, three RBIs and a run scored. Chris Schwinden tossed the final five innings for the Mets, allowing only two runners while striking out three.
SAVANNAH 4, HICKORY 2: The Crawdads (8-9) struck first, scoring twice in the top of the first against Gnats starter Jimmy Fuller. Hickory’s first three batters all singled, giving the ’Dads the bases loaded before Fuller retired a batter. A single and an RBI groundout gave Hickory the early lead, but Fuller limited the damage thanks to a pair of strikeouts. Fuller settled in after the first inning, and did not allow more than one hit in any of his seven subsequent innings. The Gnats had baserunners in each of the first three innings, and broke through against Hickory’s Robbie Ross in the fourth. Third baseman Jefry Marte drew a walk. Catcher Kai Gronauer blooped a single to shallow right field that advanced Marte to third. With runners at the corners, RF Cesar Puello ground a single through the left side to score Marte. Gronauer scored to tie the game at 2 on DH Alex Gregory’s RBI groundout. Second baseman Alonzo Harris then doubled down the left-field line, scoring Puello to give the Gnats a 3-2 advantage. Savannah tacked on a run in the fifth inning when shortstop Wilmer Flores doubled and scored. Flores was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles to run his team-best hitting streak to nine games. For the second time this year, Fuller threw eight innings with nine strikeouts. With the win, Fuller improved to 3-1 with a 1.26 ERA.
