Kelvim Escobar may never appear in a Mets uniform. The right-hander, who was signed to a $1.25 million guaranteed contract only to experience shoulder weakness during spring training, is scheduled to have surgery Wednesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. A team spokesman said the procedure will address a torn capsule in the front of Escobar's right shoulder. Escobar has appeared in only one major league game over three major league seasons.
