New York Mets lefthander Chris Capuano left Thursday's start against the Athletics after the sixth inning with discomfort in the right side of his abdomen, according to the Mets.
The team said Capuano left for precautionary reasons.
Capuano was removed for pinch-hitter Willie Harris in the bottom of the sixth. He allowed five hits and no runs in six innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk.
Capuano threw 64 of his 88 pitches for strikes.
He entered the day with a 5-7 record but was in line for the win as the Mets held a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh.
