The Mets have signed 10th-round pick Matthew Budgell, a right-handed pitcher from Woodbridge High School in Irvine, Calif. Baseball America reported the signing bonus at an over-slot $225,000.

Meanwhile, still-unsigned 15th-round pick Phillip Evans, a high school shortstop from Carlsbad, Calif., was named MVP of the Perfect Game World Wood Bat 18-Under tournament in Marietta, Ga. Mets scouts watched Evans all week.
