The Mets intend to sign left-hander Gustavo Chacin for Triple-A Buffalo, a team official confirmed. Chacin, 30, appeared in 44 games in relief for the Houston Astros last season, producing a 4.70 ERA. He had been 3-6 with a 5.13 ERA in 27 appearances (nine appearances) this season with Triple-A Oklahoma City before being released.

Minorleaguetransactions.com originally reported Chacin's imminent signing.

The Mets added infielder Niuman Romero, who appeared in two games for Boston last season, and assigned him to Double-A Binghamton.
