Angel Pagan is back in the Mets lineup tonight and leading off against the Diamondbacks. He left Wednesday’s game with back spasms and sat out Thursday against the Padres.
• Manager Terry Collins said the Mets will keep an eye on Pagan because a back issue can flare up, especially after the team’s long flight Thursday to Phoenix. Pagan got treatment before Friday’s game and told Collins he felt fine.
• Second baseman Justin Turner was out of the lineup Friday, and Collins said he’ll probably give Turner a couple days off during the weekend series and possibly the series finale off in San Diego to coincide with the Mets’ off day Thursday to rest him. Turner is “banged up,” Collins said, without going into specifics. “He’s playing through some things that a lot of guys wouldn’t play with, so I need to give him a break,” Collins said.
• Manny Acosta ended up being unavailable to pitch Thursday, but Collins said he hopes Acosta will be able to pitch tonight against the Diamondbacks. Acosta lost part of the fingernail on his right pinkie on a line drive Tuesday.
