Terry Collins confirmed it will be too soon for Jose Reyes (left hamstring strain) to come off the disabled list when he’s eligible next Tuesday. Collins said to his knowledge Reyes has not been doing any baseball activity. He went on the DL Aug. 8.

Mike Pelfrey is expected to make his next start Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers, despite a line drive striking him in the right elbow Saturday in a 6-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. Pelfrey said his elbow feels fine. He has a bruise, but X-rays were negative. Collins confirmed he expects Pelfrey to make his next start.

• Second baseman Justin Turner is back in the lineup after missing two starts to rest nagging injuries, including hip flexor/quadriceps issues. Turner also is expected to sit out Wednesday's series finale at San Diego, giving him another two-day rest with Thursday's team off-day.

Jason Isringhausen has been sitting on save No. 299 since Tuesday. He would be the 23rd major leaguer to record his 300th career save.

Collins said Isringhausen and his teammates are anticipating the milestone. “I thought yesterday was going to be that chance,” Collins said. “(We) want to certainly get him out there soon because I don’t want him to sit too long.”

• Collins indicated he wants Lucas Duda to remain at first base rather than flipping him between first and right field. Collins said he doesn’t like to move young players back and forth. Plus, he can get right fielders Mike Baxter or Jason Pridie in the lineup while keeping Duda at first.
