Jose Reyes is slated to play three straight rehab games with Double-A Binghamton beginning Thursday. After an off-day Sunday, Reyes is due to be activated from the disabled list Monday.
Reyes took groundballs and participated with teammates during batting practice Tuesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park before the Mets faced the Phillies. He has shown no ill effects from his second left hamstring strain of the season.
The Mets actually have a doubleheader against the Marlins the day Reyes is due to be activated from the DL. But Terry Collins said there's zero chance he plays both games.
The Mets plan to rest Reyes periodically the rest of the season to try to guard against a recurrence of hamstring issues.
"He told me yesterday he'd be ready for the doubleheader," Collins said. "And I told him I'm not really sure that will be worked into the books. His first game back, let's run him out there for 18 innings? I could be opening my equipment bag and packing."

So I can see the Mets actually spending in free agency, including for a Choo type, and still have payroll go down.

There will be arbitration raises. Really rough estimate: Mets would probably need to spend ~$50M in FA to have same $95M payroll in '14
