Josh Thole exited Thursday's game in the top of the second inning after being struck with a pitch in the left wrist from right-hander Miguel Batista.

Thole got struck after getting crossed up with Batista while receiving a pitch to Marlins second baseman Emilio Bonifacio. Thole stayed down for a bit before being looked at by the trainer and manager Terry Collins.

He was diagnosed with a left wrist bruise and will be further evaluated at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Friday.

Backup Mike Nickeas came in to replace Thole, who could not continue behind the plate.
