WHAT IT MEANS: The Mets walked off with a 5-4 victory over the Cubs after Justin Turner hit a long RBI single to center field. Nick Evans had singled to open the bottom of the ninth. It was Turner's second walk-off hit this season.

BAY STAYS HOT: There's more evidence Jason Bay's recent video sessions with hitting coach Dave Hudgens to correct flaws in his swing have proven to be beneficial. The left fielder went 2-for-4 with two doubles and drove in a run on Friday. Bay is now 15-for-38 in his past 11 games and reached base three times on Friday. He also made a great throw to nab a runner at the plate in the fourth with the Cubs already leading 3-0.

PELF GETS NO HELP: Mets starter Mike Pelfrey looked like he was in line for his second win in his past nine starts, but the Cubs rallied in the ninth to tie the score at 4 and hand him a no-decision. Pelfrey gave up six hits, but limited the Cubs to just three runs in 6 2/3 innings. Pelfrey was far from dominating in the game, giving up a long two-run home run to Carlos Pena, but left with his team up 4-3 in the seventh. Manny Acosta blew the save in the ninth inning. Acosta was handling a second straight save chance for the Mets over Bobby Parnell.

SPREADING THE RBIs: Four Mets had RBIs in this game. David Wright and Angel Pagan each had RBI groundouts in the Mets' three-run fourth inning that tied the score, and Turner gave the Mets a 4-3 lead in the fifth on an RBI double that scored Jose Reyes. Turner later had the game-winning hit.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Mets host the Cubs in the second game of the three-game set Saturday at 1:10 p.m. Chris Capuano (10-12, 4.63 ERA) opposes Randy Wells (7-4, 4.86). Capuano is 8-3 in his career versus the Cubs.
