Angel Pagan, who recently has come up short pursuing some hits to the gaps, has a nagging quadriceps muscle issue and is being given Sunday off, Terry Collins said.
The manager added that Pagan's issue, while not severe, has impacted his outfield range. Collins expects Pagan to return to the lineup after Monday's off-day.
"I know he doesn't say anything, but he's been bothered by a quad issue," Collins said. "... When we talked about it, he wanted to play. He wanted to be out there."
Jose Reyes also has Sunday off, which becomes a two-day rest with Monday's team off day.
"He just said if he had today off and tomorrow off, he wants to finish it out after that with no more days off," Collins said.
• Pitching coach Dan Warthen, who routinely walks in the neighborhoods by stadiums pregame to get a workout, said he had a knife flashed at him on Sunday morning in Atlanta . Warthen indicated he kept walking without issue, and that he was not robbed. He described the knife-flashing more as a warning to keep walking and get out of the area.
