Sandy Alderson said while nothing is firmly resolved, it is "unlikely" Johan Santana pitches in winter ball in his native Venezuela after appearing in the instructional league in his Fort Myers, Fla., hometown.

Alderson also said it now appears Lucas Duda will not go to winter ball. Duda has considered playing for Tim Teufel's Caracas squad in Venezuela to get further acclimated to right field, at least for a month, but the organization had advocated resting after a long season.
