New York Mets
Things changed quickly for Jason Bay Saturday.
After feeling able to play in Saturday's game, having missed the three previous games in St. Louis, Bay's illness caught up with him in the middle of the game against Philadelphia Saturday.
"He came in back in the second inning and told (trainer) Ray (Ramirez), 'My God, I can't believe how tired I am, just running back and forth,' and he told me before the game he felt great," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "Just tells you how sick he really is and has been."
Bay was 0-for-1, grounding into a double play, before being pulled between the third and fourth inning. He will not play in the second game as he is very sick, Collins said.
