A source tells ESPNNewYork.com that the Mets have signed former Pirates left-hander Garrett Olson to a minor league deal.
Hefner, 25, had been claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh from the San Diego Padres last month. He went 9-7 with a 4.98 ERA in 28 starts for Triple-A Tucson last season.
May, 27, split last season between the Triple-A affiliates of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals. He hit .238 with 10 homers and and 44 RBIs in 248 Pacific Coast League at-bats.
Olson, 28, made four relief appearances for the Pirates last season and is 14-22 with a 6.14 ERA in 103 appearances (44 starts) with the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners and Pirates since 2007.
