The Mets are talking to outfielder Cody Ross, ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick reports.

Tweets Crasnick: "Cody Ross has 345 career starts in CF. He would be offensive upgrade over Andres Torres, who hit .221 in 112 games last year."

Ross, like Scott Hairston, is a righty-hitting outfielder.

Ross, 31, hit .240 with 14 homers and 52 RBIs in 405 at-bats with the San Francisco Giants last season.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are on the verge of acquiring Marco Scutaro via trade, according to the Denver Post's Troy Renck, which likely means Justin Turner is not Denver-bound.
