Brooklyn Cyclones pitching coach Frank Viola and Citi Field will be featured on ABC at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Here's the press release:
When 29-year-old Jared Johnson of Mobile, Ala., was diagnosed with Stage IV testicular cancer, he was given a 4 percent chance of survival. Five years later and in remission, Jared credits baseball for saving his life, helping him build extensive muscle and bone density that allowed him to endure multiple rounds of intense chemotherapy.
Though Jared originally had to abandon his big league dreams upon diagnosis, he is now getting another chance at making it to the majors as a contestant in Bud United presents: The Big Time, airing Saturday, March 3, at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.
In the show, Jared and two other aspiring baseball pitchers -- all cast via social media channels -- will work under legendary coach Tom House to test their throwing skills from the mound at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. In addition, former Mets pitcher and current Cyclones pitching coach Frank Viola is also featured in the episode.
Will Jared’s triumph over cancer give him an edge against his Big Time opponents? You’ll have to tune in to find out!
