Terry Collins told Mike Baxter that the outfielder earning an Opening Day roster spot had one caution attached. If the Mets found someone to add to the organization in the final days of camp, Baxter could be bumped to Triple-A Buffalo.

Well, a team official said Sunday that, as of now, he does not foresee the Mets adding someone externally for the 25-man roster before Opening Day on Thursday.

Anything can change if an attractive player hits waivers or gets cut in the next few days. But, nothing currently on the market is attractive enough to trump someone currently in Mets big league camp. That includes the veteran players who were on minor league contracts and were made free agents Friday by virtue of their teams declining to give them $100,000 retention bonuses to keep them in the minors.

"There's nothing right now," the Mets official said.
