Byrdak pitches again on minors side

Still holding out hope of being ready for Opening Day, Tim Byrdak pitched in a game for the second straight day -- this time in a Double-A versus Triple-A intrasquad game Sunday morning.

Byrdak, trying to work back from March 13 surgery to repair torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee, plans to pitch again Tuesday and Wednesday.

If he were to start the season on the disabled list -- still the safer bet -- he would be required to miss only four games, as long as he refrains from pitching in Grapefruit League games.

Andres Torres (strained left calf), meanwhile, went 1-for-4 with a walk and steal against minor leaguers.
