6-game Subway Series nearing end

The Mets and Yankees are unlikely to continue playing six games a season beginning in 2013, except in seasons in which the AL East and NL East line up in interleague play, baseball sources told ESPNNewYork.com.

The new schedule configuration may include one three-game series a season, and be limited to either Yankee Stadium or Citi Field. Alternatively, there may be four games a season -- two apiece at each site.
