Chris Young tossed five scoreless innings for Class A St. Lucie against Brevard County on Thursday night in his first official minor league game since undergoing May 16, 2011 surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder.

Young allowed five hits and two walks while striking out four batters.

He also will make minor league starts at a higher level before joining the Mets rotation in the slot formerly held by Mike Pelfrey, who underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery.

Johan Santana underwent the same shoulder procedure as Young.
