Roy Oswalt has thrown for the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies and will throw for two mystery teams as well, according to Ken Rosenthal.

Mets insiders tell ESPNNewYork.com he is not landing with the Mets.

That's no surprise at all, given the dollar commitment he would require and where the Mets are as an organization. Oswalt has never shown an inclination to want to play in Queens anyway.

For now, Miguel Batista holds the rotation spot formerly occupied by Mike Pelfrey. And Chris Young, despite a brief leave for the birth of a child, has pitched twice with Class A St. Lucie since returning from May 16, 2011 shoulder surgery and is progressing toward a return to the Mets within weeks.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
