Ruben Tejada took a step toward getting activated from the disabled list by batting in an extended spring training game in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Monday. Tejada did not play the field, according to manager Terry Collins.

Tejada suffered a quadriceps strain and tumbled to the ground at Citi Field as he reached first base on May 6. The progress suggests he could be activated from the disabled list as soon as the weekend series against the San Diego Padres in Queens.
