The Mets made official what Adam Rubin reported earlier today, bringing back Josh Thole from the DL and calling up right-handed reliever Elvin Ramirez. They also designated Chris Schwinden for assignment. In a little bit of a surprise, the Mets optioned catcher Rob Johnson to Triple-A instead of Mike Nickeas. Johnson was hitting .313 in 11 games, while Nickeas is hitting .148 in 24 games. Nickeas is the superior defender.
