BUFFALO 2, TOLEDO 1 (10 innings): In the top of the 10th, Dustin Martin led off with a line-drive double. Corey Wimberly then attempted a sacrifice bunt, and Hens closer David Downs airmailed the throw to first, scoring Martin. The Bisons owed it to Pedro Beato for keeping them in the game. After Justin Hampson surrendered a solo homer to Brad Eldred to tie the score at 1, Beato -- still on a major league rehab assignment -- tossed three scoreless innings. Beato (2-0) earned the win. Starter Jenrry Mejia, whom manager Wally Backman planned to keep on a pitch limit, tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out three. AKRON at BINGHAMON (ppd.): The B-Mets and Akron Aeros reached the top of the sixth inning tied at 2 before enduring their second suspension in two days. The teams were attempting to complete a game that was suspended in the fourth inning on Sunday. The game will be finished in Akron on June 19. The regularly scheduled game for Monday will also be made up during the series in Akron. Inheriting a 3-1 count from Sunday’s starter Greg Peavey, reliever Armando Rodriguez struck out Nick Weglarz to end the top of the fourth inning. After reliever Toru Murata bottom half, the Aeros tied the score in the fifth. Matt Lawson doubled against Rodriguez to start the frame. With one out, he stole third and came home when catcher Kai Gronauer’s throw skipped past Jefry Marte and rolled into left field. The run proved pivotal when play was halted in the sixth. With one out and Adam Abraham owning a 1-2 count, heavy rain forced the stoppage of play. After a 59-minute delay, the field was inspected and deemed unplayable. TAMPA 2, ST. LUCIE 1 (10 innings): St. Lucie's four-game winning streak ended despite a late rally. Blake Forsythe hit a two-out, game-tying single to right-center to score Alonzo Harris in the ninth. Forsythe was caught between first and second as he attempted to advance, and Wilmer Flores was thrown out at home trying to score from third base to end the inning. Kelvin Castro delivered a two-out RBI double in the 10th inning against Mets reliever Adam Kolarek. The Mets (44-13) had a runner at second with two outs in the 10th, but pinch hitter Juan Torres flied out. Yankees left-hander Matt Tracy had tossed 5 1/3 no-hit innings before ZeErika McQueen drilled a single to center with one out in the six. Tracy allowed three hits over seven innings. Chase Huchingson allowed one run on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts over five innings. Jack Leathersich allowed two hits over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out six. Taylor Whitenton was charged with the loss, allowing a walk with two strikeouts over 1 1/3 innings.
